Cleco Corporation has successfully launched Go-Live of their ArcGIS Enterprise, SAP implementation/integration and ArcFM Designer implementation following the 18-month long modernization project for the electric utility. Cleco serves approximately 290,000 customers and is headquartered in Pineville, Louisiana.

Commencing in early 2018 with the replacement of their homegrown GIS and simultaneous SAP implementation, the utility has fully integrated design and estimating systems with SAP’s work management system. The project has produced a comprehensive central design and work management solution in ArcGIS Enterprise.

An experienced team was assembled to facilitate the various aspects of the multilayered project. In addition to a talented Cleco development team, the GIS/SAP project team included:

  • IBM – SAP Data
  • Vesta Partners – SAP Implementation
  • Schneider Electric – ADMS Integration
  • UDC – SAP Integration

UDC assisted in specification of the utility’s new design tool and was responsible for implementing and configuring ArcFM Designer, Geodatabase Manager custom action handlers, Workflow Manager for Designers, Session Manager for GIS Analysts, and system performance monitoring.

Leveraging the Esri System of Engagement, Cleco has streamlined design, construction and workflow process while maintaining their existing ADMS integrations. In addition, SAP integration with GIS has enabled a single point of entry for all of the utility’s asset info.
