Questions like these are difficult to grade because UDC has done exactly what we have asked them to do. The quality of their output is directly a result of two factors: their willingness to embrace a client and the willingness of the client to change their processes to get the most out of the contract. The work order backlog is gone, and we are in maintenance mode. Proactive steps in the beginning of the contract with map standards, training, support, and technology enhancements largely made to help UDC become even more productive have made new initiatives like system-wide data QC easier to discuss.So why not score satisfactory since they have met the terms of the contract? An exceptional score is because I feel it’s a collaboration of goals. They help us be successful, and we figure out how to help them with efficiency, reporting, technology, and experiment a bit on new ideas. What is exceptional is to find ready partners in this business who just want to do good work every day.

Working with UDC on our AspenTech software upgrade following our Utility Network migration was important due to our short timeline, as we wanted to be live with outage management enhancements before the start of storm season. We were able to work through the migration, overcome the hurdles that such a project encompasses, and complete on time before the first storm event for the season. With regular weekly scheduled meetings and pop-up meetings when necessary the project communication was exceptional between all stake holders. Careful attention to security constraints and access regulations were needed to be able to move this project to completion without concerns. This attention to detail led to a quicker project turnaround and safer implementation.
