UDC Welcomes Executive Consultant Team Members

We are pleased to welcome two new team members, Dan Dessanti (Northeast Gas Association) and Paul Caffery (PG&E), to our organization to support UDC’s gas utility clients.

Joining our team as an Executive Consultant, Dan will support UDC’s expanding gas solution client base in Canada and the US, both in the north and southeast.

Dan’s background in the energy industry spans a wide array of functional areas including energy policy, strategy development and planning, renewable energy, business development, communications strategy, marketing, operations, regulatory compliance and negotiations with regulators. He has developed nationally recognized programs which have won awards for their creativity and proven impact.

His experience includes 30 years at National Grid working in business development and marketing and, most recently, 10 years as Director Operations Services with the Northeast Gas Association. While at NGA, his accomplishments included representing New York gas utilities in negotiating resolutions to proposed regulatory pipeline safety rule changes, launching successful online programs to enhance natural gas first responder training and gas outage management, and successfully introducing utility members to digital technology solutions that significantly increase the efficiency, accuracy and quality of the work they are required to perform. Along with fellow NGA members, he participated in the development of UDC’s Digital Utility Gas Outage Management Solution.

Dan holds an MBA, Finance from NYU Stern School of Business and a BE, Chemical Engineering from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art.

Paul Caffery

Paul Caffery

Garnering over 31 years of experience in gas utility operations and management and GIS/SAP expertise, Paul has demonstrated capability and acumen in creating and implementing transformational organizational change for utilities including PG&E, CenterPoint Energy, Oklahoma City Gas and Electric, Atmos Energy and PSE&G. As Senior Director for Enterprise Planning, Scheduling, and Dispatch at PG&E, Paul developed and led an enterprise approach to work planning, scheduling, and dispatch. He created a $500 million business case with identified benefits and partnered with all lines of business to create end-user workstreams used to identify existing process gaps.

Paul is currently representing UDC at Sempra Energy, San Diego Gas and Electric to provide management consultation on the design of a state-of-the-art Gas Operation Control Center for the utility. UDC has been tasked with providing expertise on process and technology needs and will lead roadmap development for the initiative.

Paul holds a MS, Organizational Leadership from Colorado State and a BS, Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University of Madison, NJ. He is also a graduate of the PSE&G Leadership Academy and Dale Carnegie.
