  • 6,700 miles electric transmission
  • 58,000 miles electric distribution

Project Highlights:

  • Dominion Energy West Virginia
  • 2.3 million customers combined

Project Duration: 10/2020 – 10/2021

Objective: Dominion would like to establish a comprehensive Esri platform migration design to support the migration and implementation of Dominion Energy Ohio (DEO) and Dominion Energy West Virginia (DEWV) gas distribution and gas transmission from Smallworld GIS to an Esri GIS environment.

UDC is working with Dominion to oversee and participate in designing the company’s Esri Platform migration for DEO and DEWV. This work follows our participation in the project’s Discovery Phase that was completed in early 2020. The subsequent Design Phase scope includes developing GIS business process flows and technical designs that can be used to build a complete Esri GIS Utility Network model for gas distribution and transmission. This project will provide Solution and System Architecture implementation planning specifications for the utilities and formulate a GIS-SAP strategy that establishes a single source of truth for assets maintained in both systems.

The Design Phase also includes partial migration of of Dominion’s distribution and transmission data to establish a testing environment along with configuration and installation of Esri core software, UPDM 2020, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing, to support gas distribution and gas transmission business process workflow at DEO and DEWV. UDC’s HEIDE tool will be used to support the migration from Smallworld to UPDM 2020.
