Ameren Company Overview
- Operates in Illinois and Missouri
- Approx. 3.4 million gas and electric customers
Project Highlights:
Duration: 04/2018 – 06/2021
Objective: Replace the current GIS in order to move toward a single system of record for asset data that would offer support for advanced enterprise applications and solutions.
UDC is pleased to be part of the team that worked on the successful Gas and Electric GIS Replacement project at Ameren to move the utility from G/Tech to Esri ArcGIS Enterprise. The Ameren team experienced Go-Live of their Electric GIS toward the end of 2020. The Gas GIS Replacement has been live since early 2020.
Ameren provides electric and natural gas services to Illinois and Missouri clients throughout its 64,000-square-mile service territory serving 2.4 million electric customers and more than 900,000 natural gas customers. One of the key business drivers for migrating to Esri was to move toward a single system of record for asset data to support enterprise reporting, mobile solution, web portals, and advanced analytics for integrity management. Moving to Esri simplified the application landscape, resulting in less complexity and maintenance cost for Ameren.
For the Electric GIS Replacement, UDC provided data acceptance testing services on the migrated electric data, application technical design support for the GIS application extensions, data modeling and migration support activities, and a proof of concept for adding secondary network assets into the ArcFM connectivity model. UDC implemented an in-memory trace utility solution that pre-traces and stores the entire primary and secondary electric distribution network in a searchable, traceability table.
UDC continues to provide post implementation, supplemental operational support to the Ameren Digital Field Experience team to address any technical knowledge needed to maintain the Gas and Electric GIS systems going forward.
