Project Highlights
Project Duration: 01/2023 – 12/2023
Objective: As-built Work Order Maintenance
UDC is pleased to continue its work with Northwest Natural Gas on a new data maintenance initiative. UDC is providing as-built GIS mapping support for new gas main pipes, primarily main extensions and subdivisions, using the utility’s as-built records. The project kicked off at the start of January and will run through the end of 2023.
Northwest Natural Gas Goals
With UDC’s help in posting new gas main pipe work orders and updating redlines in the GIS, Northwest Natural Gas aims to keep its GIS current and accurate in an effort for its users to continue to consume the GIS data with confidence. This initiative directly aligns with the utility’s mission to provide its community with safe and reliable services.
UDC’s Role
For its part, UDC is leveraging the as-built records and other available sources to promote features from a proposed state to active in the GIS as well as updating default features using redline sources. UDC is also applying its in-house quality tools in conjunction with ArcFM out-of-the-box tools to perform extensive quality control checks on each work order prior to posting to default.
Additionally, UDC is developing a comprehensive tracking system to trace each main pipe as-built record through the project lifecycle as well as implementing its in-house system for addressing project questions and issues and their resolutions.
