UDC Receives Esri ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing Specialty Designation

At UDC, we’re dedicated to helping natural gas distribution and transmission organizations modernize how they manage, maintain, and analyze their critical infrastructure. We’re proud to announce that UDC has received the Esri ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing Specialty designation, recognizing our expertise in delivering advanced linear referencing solutions for the pipeline industry.

ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing provides a comprehensive framework for maintaining route and event data across multiple linear referencing methods and supporting both 2D and 3D workflows. Built on ArcGIS Enterprise, the solution enables organizations to share authoritative location data across the enterprise, automate event behavior, and leverage industry-standard information models, including Esri’s Utility and Pipeline Data Model (UPDM) and the Pipeline Open Data Standard (PODS). Natural gas organizations can accurately locate and maintain assets across their networks, improve data integrity, and support regulatory reporting on a centralized, GIS-enabled platform.

With the ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing Specialty designation, UDC further strengthens its standing as a trusted partner for pipeline organizations seeking to modernize operations, improve asset integrity, and unlock greater value from their GIS investments. Whether implementing a new linear referencing system, integrating enterprise applications, or optimizing existing workflows, UDC provides the expertise and innovation to help customers build a more connected, resilient, and data-driven future.

To date, UDC has successfully delivered multiple ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing (APR) solutions as part of a larger project for utility and pipeline organizations, including:

Enbridge Gas – Implementing Esri’s Network Information Management System to consolidate the IGIS and HGIS databases into a unified enterprise GIS built on the Utility and Pipeline Data Model (UPDM), ArcGIS Utility Network, and ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing (APR) for transmission assets.

Dominion Energy Ohio – Migrated transmission gas data from GE Smallworld to Esri’s Utility and Pipeline Data Model (UPDM), ArcGIS Utility Network, and ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing (APR). The project also migrated distribution gas data from GE Smallworld to the Esri UPDM and Utility Network, providing a modern GIS foundation for future operations.
