In 2024, Dominion Energy VA started transitioning its Esri GIS to the ArcGIS Utility Network, with a 3-year strategy to meet its business needs.
The effort involves 5 databases: electric distribution, substation, and transmission, and military gas and electric. Many of the key business decisions center on system architecture, including considerations around:
- Esri Upgrade
- Security
- Capacity/Performance
- Databases/Operating Areas
- Esri Support
We will share the development of Dominion’s strategy and discuss how its approach may benefit fellow utility companies in planning for their migration.
