Configurable for all utility programs, including Electric, Gas, and Vegetation Management, Compliance Manager has been instrumental in helping our clients streamline program management and remain compliant with state and federal regulations. Built on our clients’ current Esri releases, our application supports both our web and mobile clients by iteratively managing the entire electric workflow with business workflow automation and visualization.
We recently leveraged our Electric Compliance solution internally to support tracking and field work verification for the City of Riverside’s Pole Load Analysis project. In addition to Electric, our application has supported a variety of utility programs for clients, including The Energy Cooperative, PG&E, WE Energies, and several others. We look forward to updating you on other Compliance Manager successes.
As one Tier One utility executive said of UDC’s Compliance Manager application,
“We believe everything [planning, scheduling, to field and back, and reporting] in one tool is unique in the market today because it also includes visualization, reporting, and analytics capabilities.”
Pole Load Analysis Spatial Work Assignment and Tracking
From 2018 to 2020, UDC provided field services for the City of Riverside to collect information for Pole Load Analysis under California General Order No. 95 for the design of new pole installation as well as existing poles when facilities on the pole are changed.
UDC’s Electric Compliance Manager® provided an efficient and accurate way for our Riverside PLA project managers and crew to manage the workflow of 4,500 inspections per year. In field and in office, the application successfully supported the tracking and verification of work.

GIS Enabled Compliance – Leak Survey and Critical Valves
The Energy Cooperative (TEC) rolled out the full production implementation of UDC’s Gas Compliance Manager® as a single, end-to-end tool for planning, scheduling, creating, assigning, dispatching, and completing work in the field as well as monitoring and reporting compliance for its Leak Surveys and Critical Valve Inspections.
To tailor the application to TEC’s specific requirements, UDC developed unique validation rules in the Leak Investigation form, imported critical valve GIS data to generate upcoming work events, integrated TEC’s Authentication for an added level of security and improved ease of user management, integrated iOS mobile devices with GPS to improve data collection while enabling fieldworkers to use the same tools, and integrated and updated TEC’s GIS for improved workflow.

Automated Cathodic Protection Survey
In 2015, PG&E instituted a 5-year program to evaluate 21,000 miles of steel distribution pipe to determine location and cathodic protection status in addition to ensuring monitoring and tracking. PG&E’s CP Survey contractor used Compliance Manager to automate and streamline the update of the CP Program.
You can also download our eBook detailing how the Cathodic Inspection crews streamlined their inspection process at PG&E.

Mobility for Ground Mounted Equipment Inspection and Maintenance
The WE Energies GME & IM field project involved the inspection, maintenance, digital collection, and highly detailed documentation of ground mounted electric equipment, including transformers, pedestals, junction boxes, and switch fuse units. UDC’s Compliance Manager supported the capture of all the required inspection and maintenance information as well as the RTF exceptions. Additionally, all work progress was tracked spatially within the application, streamlining the workflow from field to office.
