Project Highlights
- Consumer-Owned Public Utility
- 22,000+ Electric Poles
- 4500 PLA Inspections Annually
From 2018 to 2020, UDC provided field services for the City of Riverside to collect information for Pole Load Analysis under California General Order No. 95 for the design of new pole installation as well as existing poles when facilities on the pole are changed. The project included analysis of approximately 13,500 poles in Riverside’s electric distribution service area. The scope of work required the use of a non-spatial data collection tool (Ike GPS and Ike Office) to gather pole load data for safety analysis within the desired engineering software.
Keeping track of 4500 inspections per year required an efficient and accurate means of assigning work, tracking work and verifying completion of work. These capabilities were not supported by the project’s specified non-spatial field collection tool. UDC turned to our Compliance Manager solution to provide the needed visualization for our Riverside PLA project managers and their crew.
In the office, using Compliance Manager, our field manager was able to group and make work assignments based on location and proximity. In the field, using the Compliance Manager mobile component, workers could navigate to and see actual work locations and verify collection on each pole. Work was then tracked and verified in Compliance Manager by our field manager to ensure completion of scope and adherence to project schedule. Using Compliance Manager enabled our team to deliver on-time, high quality results to Riverside for their pole load safety analysis.
