UDC has received an extension contract to continue providing Field Collection and Inspection for the Southern California Edison (SCE) Pole Load Analysis Program. As a subcontractor to Cyient, this program is aimed at collecting information about the attached assets and loading of each pole to provide analysis aimed at the analysis of possible pole failures. Pole failures have been associated with fires like the recent fire in Malibu Canyon and the program will help with focusing maintenance and replacement of poles and assets. See the project profile – Pole Load Analysis Project at Southern California Edison to learn more about the initiative and project.
UDC is collecting, verifying, and automating the specific pole asset information so it can be used for pole safety factor analysis. UDC’s portion of the program is expected to last seven years and will include information from 1.5 million poles, covering the entire 50,000 square miles of SCE’s service area.
